Wedding Checklist
Nine to Twelve Months Before
  • Meet with parents to celebrate and discuss type and date of wedding.
  • Order engagement/wedding rings.
  • Go for engagement photograph sitting.
  • Research marriage requirements in the Country/ State where you’ll marry.
  • Select and book ceremony location.
  • Decide who will officiate and discuss pre-marital requirements.
  • Select and book reception location.
  • Choose and book a caterer if the reception location does not provide one.
  • Start guest list and compile addresses.
  • Shop for wedding dress, headpiece, veil, and accessories.
  • Choose bridal attendants.
  • Book a photographer and videographer.
  • Decide and book music entertainment.
  • Choose a florist and discuss possible flower color and style combinations and arrangements
  • Create a bridal registry.
 
Six to Nine Months Before
  • Shop for attendant’s attire.
  • Order tuxedos for groom, male attendants, fathers of the Bride and Groom.
  • Complete and finalize guest list.
  • Order wedding Stationery.
  • Meet with a travel agent to plan honeymoon/travel accommodations.
  • Obtain passports, if needed and inquire about necessary immunizations.
  • Order wedding cake.
  • Groom’s parents plan and book rehearsal dinner facility.
  • Reserve rental items for ceremony and reception needs.
  • Meet with music venue to plan music selections.
  • Meet with florist to narrow down bridal bouquet choices and other floral needs.
 
Four to Six Months Before
  • Send engagement picture and announcement to advertising media.
  • Decide when and where gift opening will occur.
  • Order mother’s dresses.
  • Meet with caterer to talk about menu selections and schedule tasting.
  • Book wedding-day transportation.
  • Reserve your accommodations for the wedding night / Finalize Honeymoon travel plans.
 
Two to Four Months Before
  • Address & stamp invitations.
  • Mail invitations with hotel and travel accommodation information six to eight weeks prior to the date.
  • Purchase thank you notes.  
  • Write and send thank you’s for gifts received as they arrive.
  • Purchase wedding dress undergarments so that you can take to your first fitting.
  • Have fittings for wedding dress, attendant’s dresses, tuxedos.
  • Order shoes.
  • Confirm wedding cake details.
  • Design and have wedding programs printed.
  • Meet with officiate to discuss options for the ceremony and choose readings; invite loved ones to participate, if appropriate.  
  • If you are writing your own vows, begin doing so now.
  • Choose and order gifts for attendants, parents, and helpers.
  • Make appointments with hairdresser and/or make-up professionals.
  • Meet with florist to finalize flower needs.
  • Plan bridesmaids’ luncheon.
 
Three Weeks to One Month Before
  • Schedule and finalize all fittings for wedding dress, attendants, and tuxedos.
  • Pick up wedding rings / check engravings.
  • Start name changes, address changes, magazine and correspondence changes.
  • Continue to keep up with thank you notes for early gifts / Update gift registry, if needed.
 
Two Weeks Before
  • Schedule a time with your hairdresser to do a run-through to style your hair as it will be for wedding day. Bring your veil with you!
  • Pick up wedding dress, if not being delivered.  
  • Confirm and finalize all details with wedding professionals.
  • Contact guests who have not responded to wedding invitations.
  • Finalize guest count for ceremony and reception.
  • Create seating chart for the reception.
  • Confirm hotel reservations for out of town guests.
  • Start packing for honeymoon.
  • Confirm rehearsal dinner plans.
  • Host bridesmaids’ luncheon.
 
24-48 Hours before Wedding
  • Pick up tuxedos.  
  • Make sure to try them on before leaving the store.
  • Give assignments to wedding party members; remind them of rehearsal details.
  • Confirm transportation details.
  • Confirm reservations for wedding night and honeymoon.
  • Give attendant’s/parent’s gifts at the rehearsal dinner.
  • Get a massage to unwind and relax / Have nails done.
  • Go to sleep early the day before the wedding.
 
Day of Wedding
  • Have hair and make-up done
  • Allow time to get dressed and get to ceremony site
  • Take marriage license and rings to ceremony site.
