Hello, from Nashville, TN!
Lots of driving, Red Bull and four days of Mom and Dad later, we are here.
We walked through the GayLord Opry Land Hotel, drove around the Opry Land Mill and ate at Cock the Walk restaurant. YUM!

Traveling

I am traveling with my parents this week, so no wedding thoughts.
I fly down to Texas to drive them back to Iowa.
We are taking a detour to Nashville, so I will write when I can.

Actually, I will write to keep my sanity!

Cameras at Bridal Shows

The Bridal show went well today. Lots of brides and I think that most everyone had a good time.
Brides, if you are going to a bridal show, please leave the blackberries, cameras, and videos at home!
We are professionals, trying to make a living. Stealing (Yes, if you table a picture of our work without asking permission, it is stealing!) our ideas so that you can do it "yourself" is flat out wrong!
If you want ideas, go buy a magazine!

Having fun

How many times have I heard or seen brides and grooms get stressed out over their weddings; and it happens to be over the smallest of details. Life is not perfect! Your wedding day is bound to have this and that not run smooth. Relax, life does go on and it will all work out just fine. Bridal Shows

I have recently been battling a newspaper in Eastern Iowa. They won't let me post my web site in the ad for my bridal shows. (The web site is necessary to direct the brides to register for the shows.) They say that it is in competition with their wedding web site. I say hogwash!
Brides will go to as many bridal shows as they can. With all of the freebies given out, cake samples, and fashion shows, whether it be one show or twenty, brides are going to go.
The newspaper is just being insecure and very childish.

Bridal Show

The Sunday Bridal Show at the Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite went very well for the decorating tables that we had planned. We did a Spring Fling Table in bright orange and green and maize. We covered it with flowers and candles and crystal. Gorgeous!
The White on White romantic table turned out beautiful and luscious.

Wearin o' green

The library

I went to the library today. It just so happens to be my favorite place to go. So many books and magazines to read. I have to work just to feed my reading habit!
So many bridal magazines; how do brides find their dream dress? There are so many beautiful dresses, each page more wonderful than the previous page. Can a bride wear more than one dress on her special day?

Bartenders and Open bars

Many couples think that it is okay to have cash bars, when in reality, it isn't!
How would you feel if you were invited to someone's home for dinner and then they asked you to pay for it?
You would be very upset and offended. Now you know how your guests feel.

But I can't afford to buy drinks for everyone!
Then only serve what you can afford. Beer and soda is enough. A champagne toast only is enough.
Your wedding is an elegant affair, a beautiful event to celebrate the beginning of your lives together, not a drink fest for your friends and family.

Ice and Snow

I was out shoveling today (no, NOT FUN!) and caught myself less shoveling and more looking at the snow drifts and ice formations in my yard.
My mind starting churning and suddenly I am dashing into the house for a pen and paper. I start sketching ideas for a white on white wedding; different textures, variations of the color white and all types of styles. I finally decided on a palette of vivid whites with very pale green and barely-there pink thrown in with platinum as the accent.
